Partridge Street Soccer Pavilion

In 2010 we repurposed and upgraded an existing out-dated 1970s brick sporting facility at Lalor, which had been outlined as a significant asset within the city’s master plan. The project included the review of existing conditions against BCA and DDA-2 requirements with stakeholders and relevant authorities.

The final design was driven with ownership from the reserve’s stakeholders. Repurposing the old building instead of demolishing it meant all the embodied energy in it was diverted from landfill. And for older members of the community who had played a part in its original construction, retaining the existing building had an element of social sustainability, with positive comments on how their memories and associations with the building were “still there”.
