Nyaal, the immersive state-of-the-art learning precinct for Art and Education students at Deakin University Waurn Ponds campus.

Nyaal was officially opened on Friday 2 July 2021 at a ceremony attended by Minister for Training and Skills, Minister for Higher Education, the Hon Gayle Tierney, Deakin Chancellor John Stanhope AM and Vice-Chancellor Professor Iain Martin.

Celebrating the successful partnership between k20 Architecture and Deakin University on this exemplary tertiary project, Associate Architect India Mitchell was joined by Executive Director Kevin Murphy, and Project Officer Mariska Cornelius.

Professor Iain Martin expressed the importance of providing students with innovative and adaptable teaching spaces such as Nyaal, which features multi-purpose teaching spaces bolstered by a thoughtful hybrid of architecture and technology to push the boundaries of what is capable in a tertiary environment: "The Nyaal Precinct allows teachers and students to create immersive and collaborative learning experiences that are limited only by their imaginations.”
